Good evening all, well I am very relieved to say that we have finally reached the end of the busy period of October/November for WICEN activities.
This year we "only" had five events in a four week period:
* BMSC rally in Tumut followed the next day with
* Brookvale horse endurance
* Fitz's challenge
* Whitwood horse carriage
* Call of the Beast
We had many of the usual stalwarts assisting along with a number of newcomers wetting their feet - hopefully we didn't scare them too badly and they will still be willing to return for future events.
I hesitate to single out anyone in over others particularly when there are so many whose efforts are worthy of the recognition, but I have to publicly thank Matt VK1FMDH for his participation in WICEN supported activities having assisted with all five of these events. The first weekend was particularly busy for him; including taking the repeater trailer over to the Tumut car rally the night prior, setting up the repeaters early on the morning, manning the HQ for the event and then driving to camp out near Brookvale for an early morning start to the horse endurance event on the Sunday.
The rest of the year looks to be nice and quiet - just the way I like it! We had previously anticipated the local Rallye Des Femmes would occur in early December, but we have heard through the grape vine that it has been canceled for the second year in a row. No request for our assistance having been made lends credence to this, so I don't believe it is going ahead.
Details for next year's activities are fairly sparse, however I would expect the usual activities including the National Capital Rally (formerly Rally of Canberra) and the 2 day walk sometime around March - although I am not aware of any requests for assistance having been received as yet. Once I have a better idea of what we have coming up I will of course let everyone know.
Thanks again to everyone for their assistance over the last year and looking forward to your assistance with the events coming up next year.
Matt
