Good evening all, a follow on call for volunteers as we are still a couple short of the numbers needed to assist with the Fitz's Challenge on Sunday 27 October. I understand that some people have not been receiving these emails, so if you know of anyone who may not have received these emails, please pass to them (I will also send this to the VK1news and VK1 reflector email lists to catch as many as I can so apologies for duplicate emails). The Fitz Challenge is a long distance cycling event (total distance of up to 255km) were we provide safety monitoring checkpoints at various locations along the course. The course will be through Namadgi National Park and Paddys River Rd Tidbinbilla. The course is the same as previous years with checkpoints at: Tharwa Village, Rendezvous Creek, Orroral Valley U-turn, Fitz Hill, Honeysuckle Creek U-turn, Corin Forest recreation facility, Kangaroo Creek U-turn and Near Uriarra Homestead. HQ at Stromlo cycle park will run two networks, one on 2m amateur band and one on an 80MHz WICEN allocation. We will need at least two operators on two shifts, total four. Advance Notice - BMSC "Rallye des Femme" 2019 is planned for Sat 7 December 2019

Good afternoon all, Just a quick note to let you know that WICEN has been asked to once again support the BMSC's "Rallye des Femme" lady drivers car rally on Saturday 7th of December. This rally is planned to be run in Kowen Forest for the afternoon, so no early starts ! This is just a notification and is not a call for volunteers, that will come later. Whilst in early notification mode, I have also been informed that the 2020 National Capital Rally (NatCap) will be conducted earlier in the year and is booked to be conducted on the weekend 21/22 March 2020. This is a long distance horse riding event (total distance of up to 80km) were CRARC WICEN operators provide a safety network from checkpoints at various locations along the course. As in past years, the course will be around the Brookvale area (adjacent to Doctors Flat Rd, off Mountain Creek Road) and into the Uriarra and Sherwood forests. It will be an early start for most people. We anticipate there being around six checkpoints and a HQ needing to be manned from 0500 through to around 1700 on the Sunday (Some checkpoints will be finished by midday and others start later in the morning). This year we are using google forms to collect & collate responses rather than relying purely on emailed responses.
