Shannons Safari Rally - Postponed

Good morning fellow WICEN people Unfortunately we have received advice from the organisers of the Shannon's Safari Rally that the Rally scheduled for Saturday 7 July 2012 has been postponed due to a clash with an event being run by ACT cycling in the same area. Due to the presence of rally cars commuting between stages and large numbers of bicycle riders with associated road closures, it has been decided that the risks are too high and that the rally had to be postponed. The rally organisers are currently investigating new dates for the event and as soon as we know when the rally is rescheduled to, we will advise everyone accordingly. I apologies for the postponement of this event and hope that you will all be available for the rescheduled event (whenever that will be). Matt VK1MA WICEN ACT

2nd call for voluteers - LCCC "Shannons Safari Rally" - Saturday July 7th.......

Hi everyone once again, Thanks to those who have let me know they can help, along with those who highlighted their unavailability to assist with this event. We have a bit more information now and the event consist of 4 physical stages, each run twice. They are: SS1 / SS5 Pearces East Start & Stop SS2 / SS6 Tidbinbilla Start, SOS A, SOS B & Stop SS3 / SS7 Blue Range Start, SOS A & Stop SS4 / SS8 Bluetts Start & Stop HQ will be at Uriarra Village Hall and will need a minimum of 4 people, 6 would be better ! First car is due to start from Uriarra Village at 10:30 AM, though we will need to be up at running at HQ before 8:00 AM to run the Travellers Net as people head out to meet points. Car 40 (if they get that many entrants) is expected to start the last stage at 6:11 PM. Stage 1/5 should finish around 4:30 PM, Stage 2/6 should finish around 4:50 PM, Stage 3/7 should finish around 6:00 PM, and Stage 4/8 should finish around 6:45 PM. We need 3 additional people for field stations, and at least 3 more for HQ, hence this now traditional "begging" (or is that "nagging" ?) email If you can assist for the event, please let us know as soon as you can, that way we can place you on the roster to fill the vacancies.
